Scintillation Arcs in Pulsar B0450–18

چکیده
We report on Green Bank Telescope observations of interstellar scintillation from the pulsar B0450−18 at 340 and 825 MHz, revealing prominent arcs in secondary spectra both frequencies. The are successfully modeled by one-dimensional angular brightness distributions, estimated two independent techniques. distributions do not follow expected shape for a Kolmogorov plasma density spectrum, their overall widths scaling law, versus frequency, that is slightly slower than inverse square law dispersion. They also exhibit discrete peaks cause occasional reverse sub-arcs. Over narrow (5%) frequency range these participate spreading, having positions fixed sky. However, evolve over wider frequencies cannot be traced to MHz. Our conclusions add further evidence widespread distribution highly localized regions with small-scale structure either elongated or flattened.

Pulsar Scintillation and the Local Bubble
We present here the results from an extensive scintillation study of twenty pulsars in the dispersion measure (DM) range 3− 35 pc cm−3 carried out using the Ooty Radio Telescope at 327 MHz, to investigate the distribution of ionized material in the local interstellar medium. Observations were made during the period January 1993 to August 1995, in which the dynamic scintillation spectra of these...

We present here the results from an extensive scintillation study of twenty pulsars in the dispersion measure (DM) range 3 − 35 pc cm carried out using the Ooty Radio Telescope, to investigate the distribution of ionized material in the local interstellar medium (LISM). Our analysis reveals several anomalies in the scattering strength, which suggest that the distribution of scattering material ...

متن کاملInterpretation of parabolic arcs in pulsar secondary spectra
Pulsar dynamic spectra sometimes show organised interference patterns; these patterns have been shown to have power spectra which often take the form of parabolic arcs, or sequences of inverted parabolic arclets whose apexes themselves follow a parabolic locus. Here we consider the interpretation of these arc and arclet features. We give a statistical formulation for the appearance of the power...
متن کاملDiffractive Scintillation of the Pulsar PSR B1259-63
PSR B1259–63 is in a highly eccentric 3.4 yr orbit around the Be-star SS2883. The system is located in the direction of the Sagittarius-Carina spiral arm at a distance of ∼1.5 kpc. We have made scintillation observations of the pulsar far from periastron at 4.8 GHz and 8.4 GHz, determining the diffractive bandwidth, ∆νd, and timescale, ∆td, at both frequencies. We find no dependency on orbital ...
